    An Heirloom Stove

Eduardo discovered a beautiful old wood stove, in perfect condition, that he had sent up from the city to replace the old one that had rusted apart. The large grounds of the hotel supply lots of firewood ecologically, and there is no substitute for black beans cooked the way the Mayans did, and most of the local people still do … over a wood fire!

    A Bird Watchers Paradise

Gringo Perdido is an excellent place for bird watchers to stay. The jungle around your bungalow is alive with the chatter, whistle and caw of a myriad of both land and lake birds. And just recently we discovered this Great Potoo living on the edge of the property … aparently a rare sighting … it has now been recorded by the Guatemalan Bird Monitoring Program.

    Sacred Ceiba

The sacred ceiba tree that was planted on one end of the Gringo property during the Activation Maya Ceremonies in December is thriving. These trees were considered sacred by the Mayans … who believed they formed the bridge between worlds through which they entered.
